CT Lexington is Caring For A Cause - Read All About It!

CT Lexington is proud to participate in Caring For A Cause this Season of Giving!

This is our favorite time of year and our favorite auction. For the past 5 years Caring Transitions of Lexington has been hosting a Christmas Auction where the proceeds of Christmas Lots are donated to a local charity. What makes this extra special is that most of the items for this auction come from client donations. They agree with us that trying to sell holiday items in July is difficult and many are excited to have their items be part of this charity effort. Plus, we like to call this the 'Circle of Life'. Items from our senior clients give back to seniors who need assistance in our community. Here are some of the great charities we have been fortunate enough to help out over the years:

2013: God's Pantry Food Bank

2014: The Campus Kitchen at The University of Kentucky

2015: ITNBluegrass

2016: Bluegrass Area on Aging: Elder Abuse Emergency Fund

2017: The Alzheimer's Association

Caring Transitions also hosts a 'Cash-n-Carry' Store at our warehouse during each Preview and Pick-up for our auctions. This was the brainchild of one of our employees (thanks Diane). When we were helping sort and clear client houses, we were having to throw useful things away that we could not donate to local charities or could not sell in our auctions - like used cleaning supplies! So, we opened a little store to allow our shopper to pay cash for cleaning supplies and other small items when we were open at our warehouse on Delaware Avenue. NOTE: proceeds from our Cash-n-Carry Store support our charity efforts too! It has grown over time and most of our shoppers head straight for the Cash-n-Carry store when they arrive. It's fun filling a bucket for $5. Over the years the Cash-n-Carry store has funded 'Care Bags', high-quality socks, knit caps and water bottles for the homeless. Now we roll most of this money into our annual Christmas Charity event - so it will have a bigger impact.

ALERT: Caring for a Cause Coat Drive - we would like to gather as many coats as possible this year to donate to The Hope Center. So, please clean your closets out and bring them over - men's, women's and children's coats - gently-used! Can we get over 25 coats???

In all of the activities we engage in, there are other significant benefits. We respect our clients and their lifelong possessions enough to make sure we get as many items into the hands of someone who really wants/needs them. AND we are very GREEN-conscience. We try our best to keep as much as possible out of the landfill. We even offer 'project' pieces in hopes that someone with talent will turn something damaged into a useful item again. Our approach is very different from a typical Auction House/Online Auction Site. Our focus in on our senior clients - using our auction platform as a efficient way to get a fair price for their items. We take the CARE in Caring Transitions seriously.

We are blessed by great clients and shoppers who help make our charity events a success each year. Our efforts join with many other Caring Transitions offices around the country under our ‘Caring for a Cause – Season of Giving’ Campaign. We care not only in Kentucky, but also in Florida, Missouri, Illinois, Ohio, Arizona, California...

All proceeds from Christmas items in Auction ‘Q’, as well as proceeds from our regular Cash-N-Carry store & our special Christmas Cash-n-Carry store will be donated to the Alzheimer’s Association.
